Necker Island is a 30-hectare (74-acre) island in the British Virgin Islands just north of Virgin Gorda. The island's land is entirely owned by Sir Richard Branson, chairman of the . Although the land on the island is entirely privately owned, under British Virgin Islands law, all beaches up to the high-water mark are Crown land.
According to public records, the island was once worth $3 million and owned by a woman who died in a chalet in Switzerland.
On the largest (1,300 acres) privately owned isle in the British Virgin Islands in the northern Caribbean, romantic Peter Island Resort is owned.
